For the Beef

  • pounds sirloin steak thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger grated
  • 2 green onions sliced (for garnish)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds for garnish

For the Teriyaki Sauce

  • ½ cup soy sauce
  • ¼ cup mirin
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water for cornstarch slurry

For Serving

  • Steamed white rice
  • Steamed broccoli or vegetables of choice

Instructions
 

  • Mix sauce ingredients (except cornstarch and water) in a bowl.
  • Slice beef thinly against the grain.
  • Heat oil in a large skillet over high heat. Add beef in a single layer and cook 1-2 minutes per side until browned.
  • Add garlic and ginger, stir for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • Pour in sauce mixture and bring to a simmer.
  • Mix cornstarch with water to create a slurry. Stir into sauce and cook 1-2 minutes until thickened.
  • Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds.
  • Serve over steamed rice with vegetables.
