For the Beef
- 1½ pounds sirloin steak thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger grated
- 2 green onions sliced (for garnish)
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds for garnish
For the Teriyaki Sauce
- ½ cup soy sauce
- ¼ cup mirin
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 2 teaspoons cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons water for cornstarch slurry
For Serving
- Steamed white rice
- Steamed broccoli or vegetables of choice
Mix sauce ingredients (except cornstarch and water) in a bowl.
Slice beef thinly against the grain.
Heat oil in a large skillet over high heat. Add beef in a single layer and cook 1-2 minutes per side until browned.
Add garlic and ginger, stir for 30 seconds until fragrant.
Pour in sauce mixture and bring to a simmer.
Mix cornstarch with water to create a slurry. Stir into sauce and cook 1-2 minutes until thickened.
Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds.
Serve over steamed rice with vegetables.
